Video: "Wired" - Recess Monkey

RecessMonkeyWired.jpg

The advent of a new Recess Monkey album also (usually) means new Recess Monkey videos.  Seeing as I've posted a couple dozen RM videos here (seriously, just enter "Recess Monkey video" in the search bar to the right), I usually find them worth my (and therefore your) time.  (And that couple dozen times is, what, maybe half of what they've actually released?)

So, yay!  New music videos from Recess Monkey, leading off with the stunt-worthy "Wired," the title track from their forthcoming album Wired.  No Segways were harmed in the filming of this power-poppy video.

Video: "Sing To Me" - Walter Martin (featuring Karen O)

It's more of a love song than a Father's Day song, but I bet not a few of you dads (or moms, for that matter) will find this Karen O slo-mo video apropos, don'tcha know.  (Sorry, got carried away there.)

It's for "Sing To Me," the lead single from Walter Martin's We're All Young Together, and NPR just premiered the video, which features some dreamy imagery and a car that is very much vintage at this point.

Video: "November First (Jump, Run, Shake)" - Eric Herman

Normally with a video subtitled "Jump, Run, Shake," you might think that it's one of those "active" songs encouraging everyone to be fit.  But one listen to "November First (Jump, Run, Shake)," the first single off Eric Herman's forthcoming Party Animal CD, and you'll realize that maybe the kid just needs to take the edge off a wee bit.  (The animations from Majed Maaroufi capture the sugar rush quite nicely, thanks.)

Video: "Everything's Free at the Library" - Mister G (with Massamba Diop)

I don't typically post live or in-studio videos, but then again, Sengalese musical superstar (a description I endorse, because he and Youssou N'Dour are the only Sengalese musicians I could name without resorting to the internet) Massamba Diop doesn't typically appear in kids' music videos.

But Mister G has Diop appearing with him on his upcoming June release The Bossy E, and in the in-studio live version below.  The new album has a literacy theme, so the song "Everything's Free at the Library," is a pretty good match, don't you think?  As for the video, I just like watching how much fun the duo's having.

Video: "Ice Cream (Healthy Eating)" - Danny Weinkauf

It's yet another video from Danny Weinkauf -- instead of the power-pop of "No School Today," it's a tender plea for logic and understanding in placing ice cream in its proper place in dining -- that is, part of every meal.  Two of four food groups is good enough for me, too.  "Ice Cream (Healthy Eating)," whose video is directed by David Cowles and Jeremy Galante, can be found on No School Today, Weinkauf's debut solo kids music record, out last week.

Video: "A Walk Around the Block" - Bill Harley

Bill Harley's ode to spinners of tales (and cookies), "A Walk Around the Block," from his album The Best Candy in the Whole World.  The illustrations from Laura Dowling make for a nice mix of retro and fanciful, an appropriate accompaniment for Harley's gentle tune.
