Live Video: Ed Kowalczyk (Live), Live at Kidzapalooza

I think half the reason I wanted to post this was so I could put the word "Live" three times in a post title. Ed Kowalczyk, best known to most of us as the lead singer of '90s alternative rock band, had a guest spot at Lollapalooza's Kidzapalooza stage. After being introduced by Kidzapalooza producer Tor Hyams, Kowalczyk explains that he doesn't have any kids' songs, but he does have songs about kids, and proceeds, in this edited video, to sing "Heaven," a song he wrote for his newborn daughter about 8 years ago, and a favorite from his Live days, "Lightning Crashes." Kowalczyk's voice is still in fine form, but I'm always amused to see the stock-still response of the adult listeners who crash the Kidzapalooza/Austin Kiddie Limits stages for the cool folks Hyams brings in as opposed to the abandon with which the young listeners throw themselves into dancing... Live Video: "Your Fairground" - J.P., Chrissie and the Fairground Boys (Lollapalooza)

How's this for the progress of family music? One of the first shows J.P., Chrissie and the Fairground Boys, featuring Chrissie Hynde, plays is at Lollapalooza... at the Kidzapalooza stage. Here they are playing "Your Fairground" from their album Fidelity!. Nice stuff, though not necessarily kid-focused in any way. (Kinda wish the YouTube doesn't cut out when it does because it looks like Hynde's about to make a point there...) Video: "Superteen" (Live @ Kidzapalooza) - Care Bears on Fire

You know what I like about this video of the teenaged trio Care Bears on Fire from Lollapalooza's Kidzapalooza stage? The fact that the audience is a group of roughly-five-feet tall tweens and teens rather than a group of roughly-six-feet-tall adults and therefore the videographer has a clear view of the stage as opposed to a lot of the other stuff I've posted here. Oh, and the song rocks quite a bit, too. Care Bears on Fire - "Superteen" (Live from Lollapalooza 2009's Kidzapalooza stage)

Video: "Nature" (Live @ Kidzapalooza) - Band of Horses

I know, I already posted one Band of Horses live video from the Kidzapalooza stage from this Saturday's Lollapalooza. But this might be my favorite song from the video uploaded thus far. Not only that, but the band says that this song, "Nature," will be on Yo Gabba Gabba!'s upcoming Season 3. Not sure humidity in a Chicago summer is awesome, but this song might be. Video: Yuto Miyazawa and Band of Horses (Live @ Kidzapalooza)

Not at the same time. OK, so it's a 9-year-old playing a 40-year-old song, but at least we're getting a little closer to seeing a family music act on video from Kidzapalooza 2009. Yuto Miyazawa - "Purple Haze" (Live at Lollapalooza Kidzapalooza stage 2009) OK, here's the Band of Horses song from Saturday. No word if they started 20 minutes late because Care Bears on Fire ran long (inside joke)...
