Video: "Subway Train" - The Pop Ups

Oh, those halcyon days of 2010, when somebody could casually mention, "I like that Pop Ups CD," I'd track down the album and BOOM!  Mind. Blown.

Even after their second album, Radio Jungle, was nominated for a Grammy this year, Brooklyn's Pop Ups are finally getting around to publicly showing a video from that 2010 debut, Outside Voices.  It's for the song "Subway Train," and it's just had its premiere at the New York International Children's Film Festival.  Animator Garrett Davis (who also did "Box of Crayons") gives each of the animals riding the train their own personalities.  This could have easily played Sesame Street 20 years ago.

Video: "The Shadow Dance" - Tito & Charity

Yay for kindie duets.  "The Shadow Dance" started out long ago as a duet of sorts between The Hipwaders' Tito Uquillas and Readeez' Michael Rachap.  Well, as Tito explains, that ended up not quite working out.  Never fear, "The Shadow Dance" ended up featuring a duet with him and Charity Kahn from Charity and the JAMband, with a video in the spirit of Readeez.  Win-win, me thinks.  The single and video was released just after Groundhog Day and just before Valentine's Day (for somewhat obvious reasons), but even as days get longer and shadows get shorter, it's still apropos.  Watch the video below and grab the mp3 afterwards (or purchase it here).

Video: "Inspiration" - Cat Doorman

Who inspired Juliana Bright, who under the moniker Cat Doorman has released the Cat Doorman Songbook?  Well, for this, her first video from the album, for the track "Inspiration," it was her daughter, whose drawings served as the basis for Bright's drawings.  (Alexis Gideon joined in.)  Lo-fi and lovely.

Video: "One Fat Frog" - Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke

Always good to have another Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke video.  This one's for "One Fat Frog" off their much-beloved Rise and Shine album.  The fat frog is by far the most sane and low-key animal in this motley collection of lightly animated sketches.

Video: "Too Dirty to Love" - Caspar Babypants

Caspar Babypants and Charlotte Blacker, back together again for kindie video goodness.  Last time it was knitted bears, this time it's collage-y grungy worms.  It's for "Too Dirty to Love" (featuring vocals from Rachel Flotard), off the brand-new and excellent CB album I Found You!.

Video: "Busy" - The Not-Its!

You know, they had me at the kids playing horns.  But the first video from the Not-Its new album Kidquake! also features slow-motion video, sped-up video, and most-importantly, a song that serves as its own alarm clock.  Squeeze this one in.  (Via Red Tricycle)
