There's nothing complex about this new video from The Baby Grands. It's just a catchy tune ("Dinosaur") with some simple (though not cheesy) visuals. As I've said before more than once, sometimes that's all you need.

Monday Morning Smile: "Chicken Monkey Duck" - Mike Phirman
There is no logic here. Or perhaps there is, and Mike Phirman is just a smarter man than me. (This is a definite possibility.) "Chicken Monkey Duck" is, well, let's just say that it's a track off a nearly year-old album called The Very Last Songs I Will Ever Record (Part 1), if that gives you any indication of the seriousness of the thing.
Name your own price to download it at the link below; the video may be a helpful audio-visual device should you or your kids care to memorize the piece to stun others at parties.

Video: "Your House is Strong" - The Nields
We're in the run up to Mother's Day, and so it's time for a few seasonably-appropriate songs. First up is a song from The Nields. It was written for MotherWoman, a Massachusetts-based non-profit which "supports and empowers mothers to create positive personal and social change." It's a sweet, sweet song, and a lovely video. I'm not one of those teary-eyed people, but if you are, I suggest that you have tissues nearby. ("Your lap was love to me.")

Red? Anne Hathaway vs. Hayden Panettiere, Singing
Longtime readers will know of my love for the soundtrack to Hoodwinked, an excellent soundtrack that was out of print for awhile but is now easily available.
So now the long-delayed sequel, Hoodwinked Too!, is in theatres, and I'm wondering whether I should go with the family to see it. (We've subsequently acquired a copy of the original on DVD, and we like it quite a bit.) I was nervous because despite the original's director and creator Cory Edwards' assurances that the sequel was good (he's a co-writer on the new movie), I wasn't getting a good vibe from the trailer, and, what's worse, Todd Edwards, who was responsible for the soundtrack, is nowhere to be found on this film.
Instead, what we have is this, courtesy of Hayden Panettiere, brought in to replace Anne Hathaway as the voice of Red:

Sigh. So... generic. And so not intriguing to me. (Oh, and the video would appear to give away a major plot twist, so foo on that, too.)
Finding clips of the first movie online is obviously a little difficult, but I would just direct you to...Video: "Balloon" - The Pop Ups (World Premiere)
A year ago, Jacob Stein and Jason Rabinowitz, the duo better known as The Pop Ups, were attending Kindiefest and handing out copies of their debut album for kids Outside Voices. The rest is history.
Now as they get ready to play Kindiefest this weekend, they've finished their first video. It's for "Balloon," a story told via reggae and in video form, unsurprisingly, by puppets and cardboard. It's lo-fi in just the right way. We're happy to world-premiere it for you today.

Video: "Sidekick" - Recess Monkey
It's less than a couple months until the release of Recess Monkey's latest album FLYING!, which means the band is starting to crank out another series of awesome low-budget videos for songs on the new album. The first one for the album is for the song "Sidekick" and it features Mayor Monkey, who I had just thought of as a band manager and talk show host. Oh, how wrong I was.
Bonus points if you can identify the other RM video Professor Schnoz -- if indeed that is his real name -- appeared in.
