The first video from the upcoming Gustafer Yellowgold CD/DVD set, Gustafer Yellowgold's Mellow Fever (out March 17), has been posted to YouTube. It's the mellow (of course) "Getting in a Treetop," which features a pretty vocal line from Morgan Taylor and some acrobatic somersaulting from the man in yellow.

A little late in posting this, but worth it nonetheless -- Wired's Geekdad posted an mp3 of the awesome track "We R Super Heroes from Robbert Bobbert and the Bubble Machine's upcoming self-titled debut. Trust me, folks, it's an awesome track.
If that wasn't cool enough, he also secured a video from Todd Webb, who drew the comic book accompanying the album. The video (scored to another Robbert Bobbert track) features Webb showing exactly how to draw Robbert Bobbert. In a single take. Cool.

New Gustafer Yellowgold Disk Due March 17
I gotta admit, Gustafer Yellowgold's Mellow Fever is a slightly odd title, though I like the symmetry/replacement thing of sorts going on with this and his last title (Have You Never Been Yellow?).
Aw, but who am I kidding -- it's a new Gustafer Yellowgold set!
Due out March 17, this third Gustafer DVD/CD set features some guest stars -- John Stirratt and Pat Sansone of Wilco and Lisa Loeb, not to mention some characters, such as Wincey the ferret and Sisson the blue worm, that haven't received a lot of (or any) attention on disk. (Plus a mockumentary, "Looking For... Gustafer Yellowgold." When does "Behind the Music: Gustafer Yellowgold" get its release?)

Mmmm... another year, another album from Seattle's Recess Monkey.
The guys are back soliciting backup choral help from the kids, this time on Valentine's Day in Seattle, for five tracks on their upcoming album, to be entitled Field Trip. Go here for all the details, Seattle-area folks.

New Music (and Album) From Dan Zanes: "Jesus on the Mainline"

The fine folks at Festival Five have provided some clarification on the previously discussed The Welcome Table: Songs of Inspiration, Mystery, and Good Times mostly-gospel album. The album is coming out as an iTunes digital exclusive on Tuesday, December 23rd and an Amazon exclusive in its physical format on the same date. (Though I'd note that I just added the Amazon disk to my cart, so maybe Amazon didn't get the memo from Festival Five.) All other retailers will get the album (physically and digitally) on February 10, 2009. So yay for last-minute Christmas gifts (a gospel album is kinda appropriate for the season, no?)
If you want to get a sneak preview besides listening to the clips on the Amazon page, though, head on over to Zanes' Myspace page, where you can hear "Jesus on the Mainline" in its entirety. Nice rootsy gospel with some funky organ work to boot.
