Song: "Fish Sticks"

Description: You know, drummer Korum Bischoff looks a little different than when I met him in Brooklyn for Kindiefest. Can't quite put my finger on it, though...

Artist: Big Bang Boom
Song: "Hippie Mom"
Album: Because I Said So!
Description: They know of what they sing, those North Carolina boys. It's an affectionately teasing look at life with a counter-cultural parent, but with the emphasis on affectionate. (And I've always liked the song.)

Artist: Toronto Chamber Orchestra
Song: "Toy Symphony" (Leopold Mozart)
Album: Listen to the Birds: An Introduction to Classical Music
Description: I hesitate to call this video animated, as it's pretty much just moving the camera around the illustrations from The Secret Mountain's latest book/CD set. But the illustrations are pretty, and I think kids'll get a kick out of listening to a handful of instruments that do not sound like your typical orchestral instruments. (The "Toy Symphony" is not just a cute appellation.)

Artist: Martykins & Friends
Song: "The Funky Lumberjack"
Album: Martykins and Friends
Description: Nicely animated video for a fun(ky) song. Yes, I would post this solely for the "axe" pun. Animation by Nana Boachie.

Artist: Ratboy Jr.
Song: "High 5 Your Shadow"
Album: Champions of the Universe
Description: That is one danceable shadow. A fun video for my favorite song off Ratboy Jr.'s latest album. (But those woo-hoos? Too high for my voice, at least at loud sing-along volumes. I think Little Boy Blue has a much easier time of it.)

Artist: Rocknoceros
Song: "Gravity"
Album: Dark Side of the Moon Bounce
Desription: Going way back in the kindie time machine for this one, off Rockno's fine second album. Not sure what the spinning (and singing) fork is all about, but I like it anyway.

Artist: Angie Engelbart (PLAY music)
Song: "Camping Paper Story"
Album: N/A
Description: It's a craft, it's a song, it's a video. Though nicely sung by Angie Engelbart, I don't expect the video itself to capture a child's attention for repeated views. Done live, however, I can imagine the origami story song by Anne Kelly-Saxenmeyer would be fun for a storytime.

Artist: Debbie and Friends
Song: "Hangin' Around"
Album: Story Songs & Sing Alongs
Description: This is one of the most singularly educational songs in recent kids music and while the video (pre-Debbie's association with Planet Sunday) isn't super, it's an effective match for the lyrics.
