"Sam Who Only Ate Jam (A Cautionary Tale)" - Andy Mason

Artist: Andy Mason

Song: "Sam Who Only Ate Jam (A Cautionary Tale)"

Album: N/A

Description: The New Mexico-based Mason teams up with the unofficial poet laureate of kindie, Kenn Nesbitt (there's no poet -- including probably Dr. Seuss -- who's had more of his poetry turned into music) for this ode to a particularly narrow-minded kid.  The song and video are pretty simple, but the song's got a nice ending.  Worth a couple minutes of your time, particularly if you have someone with an affinity for Shel Silverstein-like lyrics.

"Gather Round" - Renee and Friends

Artist: Renee and Friends (in this case, Renee Stahl and Lisa Loeb)

Song: "Gather Round"

Album: Simpatico

Description: The lead single (and opening track) from Renee Stahl's album featuring duets with a whole bunch of people not named Jeremy Toback (except for the one track that is) is a warm compote of smiling faces, food, and games.  It is comfort food, and a sweet slice of kindie pie.

"The Tallest Hamburger" - Brock Ginther

Artist: Brock Ginther

Song: "The Tallest Hamburger"

Album: The Breakfast Cowboy

Description: It's an animated slideshow about... a really tall hamburger.  To say any more about the surreal Shel Silverstein-esque song (and video) would sort of spoil it.  It's goofy and I don't think it's everyone's cup of tea, but the song from the Portland, Oregon-based songwriter and the illustrations from his wife Kathryn is worth a couple minutes of exploration.

"Chicken Soup Ballad" - Ben Rudnick & Friends

Artist: Ben Rudnick & Friends

Song: "Chicken Soup Ballad"

Album: Love Is a Superpower

Description: Personally, I find the enthusiasm the animated leftovers have for being made into a soup a little confusing -- should they be accepting their sacrifice quite so joyfully? -- but the song (and video) moves along nicely.
