They should put this on every portable kid-friendly media player with a button that says, "Three Minute Timeout." The overexuberant kid watches this video from Kesang Marstrand's lullaby album Hello Night disk (review), and three minutes later, presto, totally centered!

This video's about as simple as they come -- one camera, one guy, and one shot. But the video's crisp, the sound's good, and the guy is Johnny Bregar, playing "The Monkey and the Engineer" from his fine Stomp Yer Feet! debut (review). Even better, this is the first of a promised series of videos from Bregar. Maybe he'll take some of those other instruments down from the wall behind him next time.

Concert Review: Imagination Movers (Mesa, December 2009)
We are no longer the Imagination Movers' target audience, if indeed we ever were. Back before they were a Disney sensation, they were known to us only via CDs, CDs that I was just sort of "meh" about. And their good fortune (based on a lot of work) of securing a Disney TV show didn't help us, a non-cable-TV household. (We've only seen the show maybe a couple times.)
So while I was definitely interested in seeing the band in concert on their West Coast swing, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, either from my own perspective or that of Miss Mary Mack and Little Boy Blue.
First off, I expected, and found, a sizable audience for the band. The lovely new Mesa Arts Center was hopping Friday with attendees for various events, but the Movers had the biggest theatre and given that the Ikeda Theatre seats nearly 1,600, I'd guess that at least 1,000 of those were filled, which, well, beat out Dan Zanes when he last came through on a Friday night.
It helps to have Disney's muscle backing the band, I suppose, so I got this shot of labelmates' TMBG's cover/reworking of "Davy Crockett (In Outer Space)" playing on the video screen before the show. (I have chosen to omit photos of my kids' slackjawed appreciation of the familiar video.)

I've had a mp3 download archive from the very beginning here at Zooglobble, but this is a new one -- Dan Zanes is offering a free download of the "Water For The Elephants" live video (mp4) from the Dan Zanes and Friends DVD The Fine Friends Are Here. More significant, perhaps, you can download 3 other videos here for $1.99 each (my favorite of those is "Wonder Wheel," though "Pollito Chicken" has a certain energy). Snow is supposedly coming to Arizona (if not Phoenix proper) today, so I guess I'm suitably in the mood to jam to the funky "It's Wintertime" from the Hipwaders' Kindie Christmas album. Dig the bobbleheads, guys, plus the (presumably) public domain animation.

The title of this new Readeez is somewhat obscure, sounding like some experimental film. The song, "2 + 2 Blues Four," however, is not. This is half Readeez, half Matheez. Or, as I like to call it, "Rematheez." Plus, live-action Michael Rachap dancing! You know how I think that's the bees' knees.
