A few months ago, I called the kids' music series at the DC-area club Jammin' Java the "best kids music series in the country, hands down".
How impressed am I? Well, you can now find my comments on selected artists in their Tot Rock series on their website. Not everybody gets a comment (don't worry, Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, we'll get some special quotes up there shortly), but a lot of folks do.
Now to work on getting Jammin' Java Southwest.
Concert Review: The Wiggles (Phoenix, July 2009)
I promise, this'll be the last Wiggles post for awhile, but since I went to the show and wrote a review of it for the Phoenix New Times, I thought I'd at least note it -- you can read the review -- with 10% extra snark -- here.
I'll try to update this post with a few slightly grainy photos later, but for now, here's some cheap front-row cellphone footage from a drumline Anthony and Captain Feathersword performed during the show. This was kinda cool, actually...

Video: "Monkey Man" - The Wiggles (feat. Kylie Minogue)
You know, if I'm going to spend some time talking about the Wiggles, I may as well go full out. On the positive side, this video for the song, "Monkey Man," from their album Go Bananas!, features Kylie Minogue dancing. On the not-so-positive side, this video also features the rest of the Wiggles dancing. They look like they're having fun, but they also look like me if I were dancing in a business suit next to Kylie Minogue.
I don't believe Kylie will be making an appearance at tonight's show, much to my dismay, because I'm not sure the song will survive her absence.

Video: "Green Light/Red Light" (Live)- The Not-Its!
New stuff from Seattle's The Not-Its!, who in addition to raiding Heart's unrecorded tracks for a "Green Light/Red Light" song also helpfully give props to the usually-neglected yellow light (though I'm sure the "yellow light - go slow" lyrics will confuse many listeners). I hope this'll be on the follow-up up to We Are The Not-Its!, because it's a great little track.

Concert Recap: Todd Baio (Phoenix, July 2009)
I never got a chance to mention the next show in the Children's Museum of Phoenix series I helped put together, a show featuring Phoenix musician Todd Baio, who's a little bit Pete Seeger and Dan Zanes, and a lot ukulele master. Why? Because by the time I was ready to send out an e-mail a day or so after the show hit the CMOP calendar, the free tickets were already sold out.
So you'll just have to make do with a couple videos from the concert. First up, Baio's opening medley, featuring four great renditions of "Down By the Bay," "Skip To My Lou," "Polly Wolly Doodle," and "Ain't Gonna Rain No More."
