They Might Be Giants' Next Release Won't Be Named "Here Comes..."

So did you know They Might Be Giants have a new multi-platform release coming out this fall? You did? Really? You knew that the duo would be releasing Kids Go!, a book-CD combination, on Nov. 3rd? Ohhhhh... you were thinking about Here Comes Science, weren't you? Nope, this is a book -- no details on the book cover, illustrator, or even what songs will be on the accompanying disk, just that there will be an accompanying disk, a la Bed Bed Bed. I'm thinking, though, that this tune would at least be titlistically approrpriate. (Though I doubt that word exists. Yet.) (Hat tip: This Might Be a Wiki.)

Here Comes Science's Theory of Exclusivity

The previously-reported Sept. 1 release date for They Might Be Giants' Here Comes Science CD/DVD set does come with a caveat, apparently -- that date is for an Amazon.com/iTunes-exclusive ("dual-exclusive"?) release. The full-scale release isn't set for until Sept. 22. I know, I know, those seem like pretty big exclusives, like premiering a movie only in California, New York, and Illinois. But now you know that your local Sam Goody won't have it available for $22.99 until Sept. 22. You also know (assuming you finish this paragraph) that the band will indeed be adding new videos to their popular "They Might Be Giants Family Video Podcast" in August 2009. Good times with surreal handpuppets, or will John and John find a new medium for the new release? For what it's worth, the track listing after the jump...

Play List: Little Boy Blue's Birthday Mix

Little Boy Blue had a birthday recently and for the first time in either his or Miss Mary Mack's life, he had a birthday party whose guests numbered in the double-digits. And so, as part of the party favors, I decided to make a mix CD. Now, it's been awhile since I've made a mix CD -- heck, aside from some very themed collections for preschool, this could very well be my first. And so, setting aside the books and books of philosophy on proper mixtape/CD compilation, all I tried to do was put together some songs (or artists) Little Boy Blue liked, along with some I liked, with a few thematic strands. And if I had feelings of, "how could I forget [x]?!?," well, then, I guess I should do this again. Anyway, I thought I'd use this mix to kick off a new, occasional series featuring mix CDs and other playlists. I'd like it to not just feature my voice, so if you want to share a mix CD or playlist of your own, drop me a line... Here's the result...

All Good Things Come In Threes: Greasy Kid Stuff 3 On Its Way

GKS3lowres.jpgAs noted earlier, Greasy Kid Stuff will have a third compilation of songs from their radio show out this fall, and once again, it promises to be a voyage of discovery. I mean, I'm used to knowing most of the bands on kids' compilations, but Vol. 3 is again a mix of familiar names (TMBG, Key Wilde & Mr. Clarke, Captain Bogg & Salty), familiar in name only (sorry, I've never actually gotten around to listening to Logan Whitehurst), and huh (Gloria Balsam, though I've done some research on this one, and, boy, is it a doozy). That's the beauty of Belinda's and Hova's show -- they really dig up some nuggets, so I'm looking forward to all that stuff I've never even heard of (to borrow a Cake cadence). Greasy Kid Stuff 3: Even MORE Songs From Inside The Radio is out September 15 on Confidential Recordings. Track listing after the jump.

Video: "Robots Can't Cry" (Live) - Secret Agent 23 Skidoo

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo's awesome debut kids CD Easy is being re-released this week with three brand new tracks, including "Robots Can't Cry," which Jeff from Out With The Kids captured on video live from Philly this weekend. Great chorus, great end line, great robot-work from Skidoo's kid Saki. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo - "Robots Can't Cry" (Live)

Dan Zanes' Fine Friends Are Here DVD Set For Sept. 22

FineFriendsAreHere.jpgI previously mentioned how Dan Zanes would be releasing a live concert DVD, The Fine Friends Are Here, and now we have a few more details, like that DVD cover art to the left. We also have a release date (September 22) and even more importantly (because, you know, that cover art spends 99% of its time hidden on the shelf), we have tracklistings and even more goodies to report. What goodies, you might ask? Think audio...
