I already wrote about this video once - sort of - but the finished product shows that while there may be others who create unique and interesting videos, there is absolutely nobody in the kids music field that creates videos with the same love and attention (and, hey, probably budgets, too) as The Jimmies. Their latest effort, "Cool To Be Uncool," I like to think was filmed in the actual bedroom set for The Princess Bride. It's from their forthcoming DVD Trying Funny Stuff, which'll feature 6 videos, a live concert, other stuff, and a live CD of the concert.
Go over to their video page to see all of their videos (or if Flash gives your computer a headache, go see the YouTube version) and go here to pre-order the DVD at a discount until Sunday.

Video: "Cat in a Bathysphere" - The Hipwaders
I know I just posted a Hipwaders video a couple days ago, but that was a live version of a new song.
This is a new video for a slightly older song -- "Cat in a Bathysphere" off of Educated Kid -- and it's totally awesome. Art by Anna L. Wagner.

Video: "The Change Song" - Herbie Treehead
I know. It's dorky, the lip-syncing is problematic, and there's lots of silly costumes.
Still, this video, from England's Herbie Treehead, from his album Sleepy Songs and Not Very Sleepy Songs is not without its charms. (I'm a sucker for a good kazoo break.) The song will appear on European Playground, the next release in the "Playground" series from Putumayo Kids. The album's out May 19th.

It's Like They're Trying To Teach Kids A Particular Word...
... if only I could figure out what it was...
(I'm amused by the Readeez-superimposed ducks at the end.)
Video: "Field Trip" - The Hipwaders
My copy of Goodie Bag, the new EP from the Bay Area band The Hipwaders came packaged with an actual goodie bag, one of the very few promotional schwag items that have actually made me laugh. More thoughts on the EP in the future, but for the moment, you can hear the song "Field Trip" in the video below. The occasional lack of syncing makes it sound a little bit like the studio version dubbed over a live performance, but in any case it's a cool little space-jazzy song (apropos for the subject at hand).

Video: "Monkey River" - Caspar Babypants
This isn't quite as good as "The Island Hop," perhaps, but it's still somewhat amusing, even if you keep waiting for the Statue of Liberty to appear, half-buried. From Caspar Babypants' debut CD (and maybe albums before that) Here I Am!
