Monday Morning Smile: "Waters of March" - Jamie Broza

I think the world would be a better place if there were more Antonio Carlos Jobim on family music stations. This version of "Waters of March," featuring Jamie Broza and his daughter Carmen, makes me smile. The fact that the song is often thought of as being about the passing of time lends a poignancy to the intermixed shots of Carmen when she's younger. But I think it's just a fun little song. (And it's probably a better choice for kids' radio than, say, "The Girl from Ipanema.") Broza's new CD, I Want a Dog!, is out March 15. Jamie Broza - "Waters of March" [YouTube]

Video: "I Eat Kids" (Barry Louis Polisar) - The Radioactive Chicken Heads

Nothing like a little Barry Louis Polisar to scrape the warm and fuzzy edges off kind and gentle kids music. This is a reasonably straightforward telling of Polisar's "I Eat Kids," as performed by the Radioactive Chicken Heads from the 2-CD tribute album We're Not Kidding!. Well, except for the actual eating of kids. Right? The Radioactive Chicken Heads - "I Eat Kids" (Barry Louis Polisar cover) [YouTube]

Video: "What a Big Wide World" - Essie Jain

My favorite lullaby album of 2010 now has a video to accompany it. That's right, Essie Jain's released a video for "What a Big Wide World" from Until the Light of Morning, and the result is a gorgeous piece of animation from Carolina Melis. We try not to watch TV or other screens before bedtime, but I think we might make an exception for this. Essie Jain - "What a Big Wide World" [Vimeo]

Yo Gabba Gabba Premiere Week. Again. (The Killers, Band of Horses, Jem, Dean & Britta)

TheKillersYGG.jpgI know some Yo Gabba Gabba! fans are frustrated with the pace of the airing of episodes from the show's third season, but 4 more shows are coming their way next month. The musical guests on this go-round? The Killers (though you'd never know that by the clip, as they're introduced by individual first names), Band of Horses, Jem, and Dean & Britta. All shows air at 1:00 p.m. ET/PT. Links to videos, including The Killers' "Spaceship Adventure" and episode summaries via Nick, are below. (Can I say "The Killers" again?) Monday, Feb. 7 “Adventure” Muno and friends go on an Indiana Jones style adventure! [Ed.: Hopefully it's one of the first couple adventures, you know, the fun ones.] They travel through a jungle under Gabbaland and find a golden treasure. Video: "Cinderella" - Debbie and Friends

When I heard about the "twist" Debbie Cavalier (AKA Debbie and Friends was considering for the video for her new song, "Cinderella," I thought it might end up being cheesy. But now that I've seen the final product, bada boom, bada bing, I think it turned out pretty funny and ends up elevating the rest of the video just enough to not drive away the parents. The song is an uptempo, 5-minute retelling of the myth with touches of Death Cab for Cutie. Debbie and Friends - "Cinderella" [YouTube] More D&F videos after the jump.

Gustafer Yellowgold's Infinity Trip Around the Kindie Interwebs

GY_InfinitySock.jpgIt's not quite as lengthy as the trip he takes in his forthcoming DVD/CD set Gustafer Yellowgold's Inifinity Sock, but Gustafer Yellowgold will be making a number of appearances next month at many family music sites. Gustafer Yellowgold’s Infinity Sock World Premiere Video Week will feature seven videos (in order) from the March 1 release, but unlike the sock whose origin Gustafer seeks out in the album, the length of time you'll have to see each of the videos is very finite -- only about 24 hours. So you'll want to make sure not to miss each site each day. The schedule is below - see you here on February 2nd. Tuesday, Feb. 1: The Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl - “Slim Gets In ‘Em” Wednesday, Feb. 2: Zooglobble (that's right here!) - “Infinity” Thursday, Feb. 3: Out with the Kids - “Beehive” Friday, Feb. 4: Gooney Bird Kids - “Snake Proms” Saturday, Feb. 5: Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child - “Cheddar” Sunday, Feb. 6: Ages 3 and Up! - “Wisconsin Poncho” (I know it's Sunday, folks, but make sure you don't miss this one) Monday: Feb. 7: Boston Children’s Music – “Question Marks”
