"On its way" implies a level of progress that isn't really there (unless you think more theoretically than I) but Laurie Berkner has announced that the band is rehearsing some of the songs that will appear on The Laurie Berkner Band's Greatest Hits Album. (They actually append it with "!!!," but that didn't seem very journalistic of me.) So, yeah, there's gonna be a Laurie Berkner greatest hits album. No additional info except that a special version of "Open Your Heart" will be on it. How did that song go again?...

I got pitched this video for "The Great Outdoors" in part as an "Earth Day"-related video. Considering I'm posting this after Earth Day has already passed on the East Coast, perhaps it would've been better if they'd pitched it to me (not to mention posted it), say, yesterday.
So let's call this an early celebration for Friday -- the weekend, a time to travel. Also, this is one of the better songs from Ralph's World's new album All Around Ralph's World and features some nifty animation from the Nick Jr. show Toot and Puddle. I particularly dig the butterflies.

I've said before that I need very little reason to post anything related to The Hipwaders' "Educated Kid." And this video clears that bar by a country mile. Nicely structured -- if it's all Greek to you, then it's done its job.

Video: "Hug" - The Mudcakes
Perhaps the production values are slightly below that of They Might Be Giants or a certain Super Bowl ad, but as videos featuring sock puppets go, this ain't a bad one. It's from the Australian band The Mudcakes -- the song is "Hug" and off their debut disk Songs For Little Monkey.

Video: "Music In You" - Heidi Hutchence
I can't say that I'm a huge fan of this song from London-based artist Heidi Hutchence, though I think it'd be pretty effective as a wind down song in a preschool classroom. But, man, this video looks splendid. Though the song's a couple years old, the video's new. Mmmmm.... dancing, computer-animated felt trees.
