Pants! - The Alphabeticians

Artist: The Alphabeticians

Album: Pants!

Description: Maybe you don't really need to know anything else other than the title to the Portland duo's latest album is, indeed, "Pants!," and yes, that exclamation point is part of the title.  That may drive some of you away, while other families will be pulled in by the lure of that title (and exclamation point).  The choice, friends, is up to you.  (If you do want to listen to one track before you decide, I'd recommend #11 ("RainbowwobnaiR").

Worst Superpower Ever - The Doubleclicks

Artist: The Doubleclicks

Album: Worst Superpower Ever

Description:  Delightfully nerdy songs from the the guitar-and-cello sister-duo from Portland, Oregon.  Some of the songs have appeared on prior albums for adults, but this album, the duo's first for kids, will appeal to your geeky, slightly older kid.  I'd've thought this was awesome when I was 11.  I still think it's fun.

If I Were an Otter: Songs for Kids of All Ages - Alice DiMicele

Artist: Alice DiMicele

Album: If I Were an Otter: Songs for Kids of All Ages

Description: The album won't be out 'til June, but Oregon artist DiMicele's put the title track up on Bandcamp for your (our? my?) listening pleasure.  The album will be a mixture of traditional folk songs along with some originals, like this one.

Other Stuff - The Alphabeticians

Artist: The Alphabeticians

Album: Other Stuff

Description: It's not really an album as much as "just some random stuff that's not on an album," as the band puts it.  I particularly like "All The Letters" (appropriate for The Alphabeticians), which is actually a reworking of a fairly famous song, though it takes a little bit for that to sink in.
