Video: "Superhero" - Tim and the Space Cadets

I was a little sad to hear about Tim and the Space Cadets, because the founding members, Tim Kubart and Matt Puckett, were until recently members of the awesome Jimmies.

"Until recently?" What? Nooooooo!!!! Things must never change!!!!

But, yes, they've parted ways with Ashley's project to form this new band, which has a new EP out, The Greatest Party Ever. While you can listen to 3 of the songs from the EP at their website, I encourage you to first watch this video, which is, like, the best kids video since, er, the last Jimmies video. A pretty good song, and an awesome video. Perhaps change is good.

That's awesome!

Well I hope the Jimmies will carry on in some form. I loved the band with Ashley

I'm happy to report that The Jimmies are still alive and kicking--these guys were always just hired hands. And while this is cute, I'll take The Jimmies any day.

Yeah, I knew that the Jimmies were always Ashley's project and that she'd been looking for some new bandmates. In this particular case, it appears that it's not a zero-sum game -- there's always room for more good music...

um...is it just me, or is this song and video sorta...standard and formulaic? I love the Jimmies because their music and vision (not to mention GIRLS are the superheroes, not the damsels in distress) transcended 90"s era MTV standards...this doesn't to my eyes or ears!

Katherine,

I think it's you, mostly.

I mean, yes, the video follows a fairly standard plot, but the execution (just like the Jimmies' videos) is what puts it over the top. And, yes, the protagonist is a guy... just like the lead singer. It's no "Spanimals," but what is?

I'm also a little intrigued by the Sharks and Jets vibe going on here with the Jimmies defenders. For what it's worth, from what I've seen online, Ashley actually likes the video.

Well, kudos to them anyway for putting it all together!

I agree with Katherine, so it's not just her :)

This is a little too saccharine-sweet and yes, formulaic. And I'm not a Jimmie's defender here, just saying my honest opinion of this particular song and video.

"these guys were always just hired hands"

Yikes! As a naive outsider, yet a k-rock fan, that's a bit rough, IMO.
