SXSW 2009 For Kids

Seeing as the 2009 edition of South By Southwest's Music Festival starts tomorrow, I thought I'd summarize some of the kids music-related activities going on.

In terms of showcasing bands, the highlight is the free show Saturday afternoon at Auditorium Shores:
Astrograss 12:30 p.m.
Joe McDermott 1:05 p.m.
Daddy a Go-Go 1:45 p.m.
Biscuit Brothers 2:25 p.m.
Jambo 3:20 p.m.
The Telephone Company 4:00 p.m.

That's a nice mix of out-of-town and local shows. But wait, there's more!

Tiny Masters of Today, Steve Burns & the Struggle, folks who've recorded kids albums somewhere down the line (e.g., Asylum Street Spankers, Waco Brothers), and tons of folks who've at least recorded a single song.

Beyond the music, Bill is participating on a panel Friday organized by Kidzapalooza/Austin Kiddie Limits producer Tor Hyams entitled The Underdogs: Living Large on Kids Music, which'll also feature folks from Disney and Nick, plus Adam Levy from the Honeydogs/Bunny Clogs.

Finally, Bill is also putting together another show -- an unofficial showcase, as it were -- Friday afternoon. More details here, but with Jason Kleinberg from Me 3, Laura Freeman and the Wee Lollies, Mr. Leebot, and Adam Levy playing for just $5, it's a deal. Be there at Ruta Maya from 3 'til 6, Austin folks.

Have fun, y'all.
