Disney Music Block Party Tour. Finally.
The Disney Music Block Party Tour took for. freakin'. ever. to get their site up and running. I mean, news of the tour has been floating around for at least a couple months now, and it became almost amusing to see the "Full Site Launches May [insert date here]" change every couple days, but midday today they finally came through on their promise.
Dan Zanes, They Might Be Giants, Barenaked Ladies, Imagination Movers, and Choo Choo Soul is a pretty sweet lineup, though they won't all be appearing at each concert. $36 a person is a bit steep, though kids under the age of 3 are free, and some of the other activities (the PLAYSKOOL play areas, NAMM-sponsored areas with musical instruments for the kiddos) look nice. (I'm a little dubious about having a tent with nothing but Playhouse Disney TV -- just stay at home if you're gonna do that -- but, hey, don't tell me that place won't be packed after the kids have been there an hour or two.)
No, They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies will not be playing at the same show. Value for money, the last show in the Nassau Coliseum is your best bet. As for you Canadians, the good news is that you get a show. The bad news? The Toronto show gets one less act than everyone else.
Aaaand, of course Phoenix (not to mention the entire country west of the Mississippi) doesn't get a single show.

Comments
We got our tickets for the Wednesday Maryland show. We were disappointed (as former Michiganders) that BNL would not be playing our show, but Dan Zanes, Ralph's World and TMBG will have to do. :-)

Yeah, I've been watching the date move and move and was quite surprised that they finally got the site up today. (Doesn't work well for me using firefox; haven't tried IE).
Not west of the Mississippi NOR south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Bummer.
And it is $36 per person, but more like $48 per person after fees.
No food or drinks may be brought in either and there are no water fountains, so figure a whole lot for food and drinks (6 hours is a long time).
But we're excited and will try to get to at least one anyway!

Man, that is a guy-centric line-up (with the exception of Dee Dee Doodle, of course, if she's there.). Where are all the ladies of kids' music at Disney? Something is seriously missing there...
No offense to the guys because they are all GREAT musicians, but c'mon!

One can only hope that enough wealthy families with kids who are into great kid's music will come to these events in droves. And then next year, Disney will expand westward and southward (and for Stefan, southwestward) and reduce the cost so the rest of us might get our toes in the door. Or maybe combine national with local events as a way to stave off the high cost of tickets and give our local musicians their due. And then world peace will follow, and we'll all sing "kum-ba-ya" together. Call me a dreamer, but I am ever hopeful.

Hello Brian D
I think you may want to look at a map of the United States. For your information Maryland is South of the Mason Dixon line. Be that as it may Disney should be able to tour in a wider area
