KidVid Tournament: Overtime!
Yes, there was a KidVid Tournament 2008 semi-final between the Jimmies and Mr. Richard. Which ended in a tie.
But just like that other March Madness permits its 40-minute games to go into 5-minute overtime, so will I. Given that the voting window has generally been about 12 hours long, I'm going to open voting IN THIS THREAD for about 90 minutes (that's 1/8th the length of regulation), 'til 1:50 PM as time-stamped below.
The rules: One vote per family/household in the comments below. I will be checking IP addresses, so don't even think about voting twice, 'cause I'll delete both votes. I'm not going to delete votes for trash talk, but c'mon, folks, be nice. (Besides, I don't think you're going to convince someone to change their vote.)

Interesting. What a ridiculously unfair method of choosing a winner. Overtime? With a time limit? On the Internet? I'm sure that eighty percent of the people who would have voted didn't even know it was happening or didn't have access at the time. I sure didn't. And The Jimmies, by far, have the superior video, song, and style for the kiddies and their parents.
Cheese makes me giggle in a truly uncomfortable way.
Ah, well. The Jimmies win at life anyway. They are, if you will, made of win and awesome.

Justine, I contemplated not posting the comment and responding to you directly, but because I suspect there may be a couple others who feel the same way, I'm going to respond publicly.
While I respect your opinion, I'm wondering what in the world you would have expected me to do otherwise.
I told both artists in advance that something was going to happen on the Friday. Both artists let their fans know. I also told the readers on Wednesday night to stay tuned for a resolution. Not only that, as soon as I posted this (readable via RSS reader), I also sent a note via my Facebook and Myspace accounts. On the internet, a time limit actually works. In just over 90 minutes more than 130 people responded.
I can't help that this contest became a contest of popularity between two artists with devoted fan bases. I also can't help that many of the Jimmies' fans (and the Jimmies themselves) may have been en route to Florida (really), thereby making the contest uneven perhaps. I picked the start time at random -- if I'd started to pick a specific time by looking at what artists were doing, I'd've been choosing unfairly.
I agree, the Jimmies are "made of win and awesome." If you'll go back through the archives of this site, I think you'll find that there isn't another person out there that hasn't been as big a fan of the Jimmies from the beginning (I gave them their first review) as I have.
I'm also a fan of Mr. Richard, and while you might not like his video, plenty of other people -- even people who weren't fans before this week -- do.
I'm going to conclude by quoting part of a gracious e-mail from Ashley I received Saturday afternoon...
"I can't say I'm not disappointed...but there's always next year!
All sorts of congratulations to Mr. Richard and his most remarkable (literally) fan base!"
I suggest we all move on...
