Listen To This: New (Really New) Music from Mr. David

I know that Mr. David has had a new tune -- "Hey It's Lunchtime" -- available for listening or downloading on his Myspace page for awhile. It's kind of an angular post-punk tune delivered in his loose style.

That tune is growing on me, but his new single -- the title track from his upcoming Jump in the Jumpy House album (tentatively scheduled for an August release) -- is an immediately accessible and fun track.

And, courtesy of Mr. David, I'm proud to offer it to you for your own enjoyment.

Mr. David - Jump in the Jumpy House

That nifty, insistent guitar lead comes courtesy of Greg Lisher from Camper Van Beethoven. If you, or someone you know, is getting one of those bouncy houses (sorry, I call 'em "bouncy houses") for a kids' birthday party, you need to have this as the soundtrack -- nails the pogoing aspect of those things to a T.

That is a GREAT song! I love that summer-of-love vibe it's got. Yep, perfectly bouncy. Rockin!

And in the rejuvenile spirit, I'm considering getting a bouncy house (we call 'em that too) for MY birthday next year. It's a big one.

Thanks to Stefan for posting Mr. David's latest single. Just a little bit of insight into the recording . . . Mr. David and his producer, Rich Ajlouny, recorded at Crow Studios in San Jose, CA. Both are HUGE fans of Camper Van Beethoven, one of the late 80s most influential and original indie bands. Rich Ajlouny decided to give Greg Lisher (guitarist for CVB) a call, since he lives in the Bay Area, somewhere near Santa Cruz, to see if he would be interested in helping on the album.

To the surprise of us all, Greg Lisher said yes! Not only that, he came into the studio and laid down guitar parts on several tracks on the new album. We were "stoked!" As you can hear from this song, Lisher's guitar is pretty awe-inspiring.

The interesing thing is that Lisher had heard about some of the new things that are going on with children's music, and that was one of the main reasons he was interested in working with Mr. David.

How does it go . . . "the times they are a-changin'"

Thanks Greg!! We love musicians who can rock out equally with adults and kids :-)

Kids were constantly requesting "Jump in the Jumpy House" before the single was even released. Kids are funny. They seem satisfied with the stripped down aucoustic/vocal version.

"Mr. David can we do Jump in the House again?" a five-year-old says.

"Okay, but I can't do it a 3rd time, I'm getting old. I'll be 28 in a few days."

The kid said, "noooo."

Well, a couple days later, I put in the single for a school age class. You know, just wanted to see their reaction.

The kid says "Why are you playing that? You're right here."

Other kids were jumping around, feeling punk rock with their dark Hollywood sunglasses. I left feeling good about it.

Thanks again for the great comments.
I can't wait to get the whole album out to everyone.

Mr. David
